Colonisation

Colonisation of Australia was driven by the conveying of overcrowding in the British prison system, which was commonly said; nonetheless, transportation of convicts half way around the world was not very efficient because clearly they are criminals. A lot of these criminals weren’t actually all bad, some of the men were actually farmers or even skilled tradesmen who were condemned for petty crimes and were sentenced seven years in prison. The convicts most of the time were given pardons before or on conclusion of their life sentences and were designated parts of land to farm on.Before all of the historical figures of Tempe House, it was owned by the indigenous australians (Gadigal Land) before colonisation has come into existence.

Tempe House’s relation with the historical figures of the suburb of Tempe’s original owner , Alexander Brodie Spark, and the following residents, Caroline Chisholm and the Sister’s of The Good Samaritan Order is also of importance in this. The site’s former use was  from Aboriginal land to Country Estate to Religious Community and Workplace then as residence. But now in the present, Tempe House is currently not in use but is completely accessible to the public. It may be argued that this site maintains modernist values to protect the history of Colonisation. Tempe had a time when it was a educational establishment for young women during the 19th century modernist movement. the young women added historic significance to Tempe House which enabled the revolution of its value and reputation, from all the things listed above then now as a public park.
